I’m the Wine Buyer for a respected independent liquor store, which means I know a thing or two about vin. I’ve always been a renegade, bucking many if not most of the conventions set down by experts and collectors in the decades succeeding Prohibition and World War II – in other words, the Boomers (no offense). It’s taken a decade and an industry-wide decline for the standards to catch up with me, but this neurospicy Millennial is finally at the forefront of a new, improved wine era. All the obscure wine grapes and regions I’ve ever been told I’m crazy for promoting about are trendier than ever, and it’s heartening when I have a much easier time selling a Saperavi than a Cabernet Sauvignon from the same winery in Eastern Europe. Pinot? I hardly know her.
